The X Talent trainee will join Fujitsu Research of America's Technology Strategy Unit (MVPE Division – Engineering Team) in San Jose, CA, contributing to cutting-edge technology research and development projects. The trainee will be expected to: - Assist in the design, development, and testing of software systems and engineering prototypes aligned with the division's strategic technology roadmap. - Participate in research and evaluation of emerging technologies (e.g., AI/ML, cloud computing, distributed systems) relevant to Fujitsu's global R&D initiatives. - Collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams to support project delivery, including requirements gathering, solution design, and technical documentation. - Contribute to the development and optimization of internal tools, platforms, or proof-of-concept (PoC) systems. - Present findings and progress updates to team members and supervisors in regular meetings. Engage with international colleagues and partners, gaining exposure to a global enterprise R&D environment.

The primary objective of this research program is to explore and develop machine learning algorithms that are capable of automatically generating novel machine learning algorithms tailored to address new and emerging problems. This innovative approach aims to shift the paradigm of algorithm design by utilizing meta-learning, neural architecture search, and automated machine learning techniques. The research will be conducted in close collaboration with a multidisciplinary team of approximately 15 researchers from Fujitsu, located across multiple global research hubs in California, Japan, New York, and India. These researchers bring together a rich diversity of technical backgrounds, including deep learning, computer vision, natural language processing, computational neuroscience. The international nature of the team will facilitate a highly collaborative and innovative environment, leveraging diverse perspectives and expertise. The project aims to achieve breakthroughs that can push the boundaries of ML, reducing the time and expertise needed to design custom algorithms for specialized applications.
